Snapshots and Reporting
ProjectsA Snapshot (Report) is a point-in-time capture of a project. Since requirements in an active project can change constantly, snapshots serve to fix a binding state for documentation, coordination, or milestones.

How a Snapshot Works
When you create a snapshot, ETRM generates a document (report) containing the exact state of all requirements:
- Active Content: All texts, parameters, and metadata of the requirements are captured in their current state.
- Timestamp: Every snapshot is given a precise timestamp proving when this state was valid.
- Comments: Previous communication (comments) is included in the report to provide seamless proof of decision-making processes.
Why Create Snapshots? (Scenarios)
Working with snapshots offers enormous advantages in various project phases:
1. Milestones and Approvals
Before a project moves to the next phase, a snapshot fixes the agreed state. This serves as a reference for acceptance.
2. Change Management
If a customer or stakeholder requests extensive changes, you can create a snapshot beforehand. This keeps the original state comparable and traceable.
3. Legal Documentation Requirements
In many engineering fields, certain development states must be archived for years. A snapshot fulfills these requirements for audit-proof storage.
